Are we almost done?

Hello fellow Nursing students, Pre-Nursing students, thinking about Nursing school students,

How are you guys doing??

Whew! Thank God this week is finally over kind of ... Even though today is considered my friday for school, I still have to go to work today! I swear, I may never get a decent break till the summer time.

Anyways, yesterday marked the end of the first week of the second quarter being in Nursing school (did that make sense? lol). It has only been a week and I feel like I am already midway through the quarter and I really wish that was true. With just a week under my belt, I am seeing the differences between first quarter and second quarter. MAJOR DIFFERENCES! Especially with regard to clinical. Because my classmates and I have already learned so much, we are expected to do more and know more. In clinical, I and other students have noticed that we are a bit more independent and that is a bit terrifying. One exciting thing though is OR rotation. Throughout the quarter, one person a week will have a chance to be in the OR and watch a surgical procedure. I will finally be able to fulfill my Grey's Anatomy dreams! I just hope I don't faint in the process and I have heard it happens quite a bit.

I struggled a bit this week with staying focused and keeping on track. I maintained but it was not enough. Hopefully, this weekend (after work of course) I will be able to get my act together and put spring break behind me. I need to start implementing the tips I made in the previous post. The very first thing on my list is to catch up on reading and answer the objectives for each concept! I do not want to get behind because I know there will be no time to catch up.

A tip before I leave regards dosage and calculation. A new topic this quarter includes learning IV spike, flush, prime, and hang, and IVPB (IV piggyback) and how to calculate the drop rate and finding the mL/hr. In class, we learned the formulas and how to set up the problem, that was not problem. The moment we stepped into our skills lab to implement what was just taught, I failed -- crashed and burned! So, my tip is to practice, practice, practice! When it comes to math, this is my go to. Practice more than just what the homework is telling you to do until it can be done with no assistance. Welp, that is all for now!
